Bad Quarto Productions seeks a more just and free world, and we are committed to creating equitable, diverse, and inclusive environments in our theatrical practice. We believe that Black Lives Matter. We stand in solidarity with Asian-American and Asian communities who are being targeted by an escalating series of racist attacks. We believe that there is no room for racism, bigotry, or ethnocentricism in a free society, and we condemn those who have mobilized the works of Shakespeare in service of white supremacy and northwest European ethnocentrity. It is our belief and hope that our work to de-canonize Shakespeare's works may help achieve those ends by encouraging a greater diversity in their stagings and critical readings.

Bad Quarto Productions is devoted to exploring the dingy corners of Shakespearean plays, primarily by staging the works of Shakespeare's contemporaries, along with the lesser done versions of his works (i.e. the earliest printed version of Hamlet and The Taming of a Shrew (not the shrew). Bad Quarto has been producing these plays since 2010, but we have done less well in documenting our work, and helping to create performance histories that will help others explore the Shakespeare-esque stage beyond the canon, and we are taking this moment to focus on that work.

We'll be rolling out this work sporadically over the next few months. Our intention is to give each of our past productions its own archive page with basic details about the production. Photos, videos and performance editions (where permitted by copyright laws), and other materials will follow.
